Italy: The Dolomites, Bolzano to Ora
If you’ve ever dreamed of cycling the Giro d’Italia’s Pordoi Pass, this is your chance! Of course, we’ve planned it so you won’t have to do all the work: a shuttle to the top lets you coast down, navigating the switchbacks that have thrilled Giro d’Italia fans for years. Here, you’ll feel the awe-inspiring presence of the Queen of the Dolomites—the mountain’s highest peak. During your orientation meeting, your VBT Local host sets you up for independent exploration, fitting you with a well-maintained bike, a navigation app with route notes, and a number you can call 24/7 if you need support. Along the way, you’ll spin along quiet bike paths through the high mountain valleys of Val di Fassa and Val di Fiemme—staying at quaint local hotels suffused with South Tyrol’s famous culture, cuisine, and cycling.

Verona
The city of the most famous lovers in history: Romeo and Juliet. But Verona has much more to offer. The city, also known as Urbs Nobilissima, is the second biggest city in Veneto (after Venice). It is one of the cities that has better preserved its artistic heritage in Italy.
Bolzano
Bolzano lies 265 m above sea level along one of the most important routes running from the Mediterranean to the North Sea, connecting North and South. It is surrounded on all sides by mountains. Bolzano's inhabitants belong to three linguistic groups (70 % Italians, 26 % Germans and a small percentage of Ladins) and it has a marked Tyrolean atmosphere. The city was constructed during the 12th and 13th century. Its historical center is rich in monuments, and Piazza Walther is considered the elegant heart of the city. Above the city, in the Dolomites, lies the "Rosengarten"- the legendary realm of Laurin, the dwarf king. His enchanted garden glows an unearthly red at twilight. Bolzano has a Mediterranean climate with alpine splendor, with a yearly average high of 62° F and low of 43° F. Bolzano is the ideal starting point for walks and hikes. Visit Bolzano’s Museo Archeologico, which is the new home of the Similaun Man, the approximately 5300 year old mummy found in 1991 on the glacier of Similaun.
